Post Production Blog

In our last lesson i learnt how to use final Cut server, this was really good, as i now know how to use final cut sever, as i can now edit a film correctly. To get the film onto the computer i uploaded it straight onto the final cut server.

I opened up the final cut proxy, and i then logged the shots. The reason why i logged the shots was so that i can get the best clips of the different shots, and use them in my final clip. This is really good as i can use any clip and put it anywhere i want in the timeline. I then picked out the shots that i liked and then named them. E.g. Over the shoulder shot, medium shot and close up, and then logged them in to the bin. I selected the shots because of how they were either in focus or had the correct angle.

After all my shots were in the bin, i then opened it up and dragged the selected clips into the timeline. I then repeated it and then made sure that they were merged together properly so the sound was correctly edited and the shots were correct. I then added in all the shots that were compulsory for the task, i then selected the extra shots, and dropped them into the timeline. I used the storyboard to arrange the shots in the timeline correctly so that they made sense by following the storyboard.

I edited the final cut because of how either the picture didn't work, or just didn't look right. I cut from a over the shoulder shot to a close up because when the actor says "i won't wait for you", i thought that the viewers needed to see the expression on his face. when he was about to leave the actress. I also wanted to edit the clip because maybe one shot was too long to have in and then cram in the other required shots.

I then selected the appropriate shots that i needed to use in the clip and placed them into the /

Preliminary Task Evaluation

In our preliminary task we had to film a two way conversation, this meant by not crossing the 180 degree line. This is so when you are filming someone, they don't suddenly switch sides. The task was so we could get used to using the camera and the settings on it, we also had to cover the different types of shots including wide shot, medium shot, over the shoulder shot and a close up shot.

We moved the room around, so that the table was in the middle of the room, but also enough room to move the camera around for filming. Our group then used the chair for the girl to sit on and i placed the gun on the table. We then marked out on the floor, so that the male actor could see where he was meant to stand when he comes into the room.

It worked as a location for our task, as we had enough space to move around and film, we had a door that made a noise when the actor entered the room when he wasn't being filmed, so the viewers knew that he was in the room.

I had quite a big active role when our group were filming because i knew how to do the colour bar at the start of the film, and knew how to set up the camera's light settings. Our whole group took part as we all took turns filming and moving the camera around the room. we were all helping each other and saying what would be a good shot to have.

The thought that we had towards using lighting, was to use a hard light going across the room onto the table. We turned the room light off, so the standing light was just on. This was a really good effect because you could just see the light in the camera frame.

The lighting was important to the scene because it sets the right mood e.g. dark is a scary and mysterious.

When we were filming we had to move the camera into the correct position, and then bubble the tripod
